48 hours in Bangkok from BKK

Forty-eight hours is a palace morning and a river evening, with a night in between. It is still one side of the city.

Day one, the palace

Rail in, drop the bag near the river or a BTS station, then the Grand Palace while you are dressed for it and the heat has not won. Two hours inside is enough.

Eat nearby. Do not start a second monument out of guilt.

Day two, the river

A boat on the Chao Phraya does the sightseeing while you sit down. The dinner cruise is the booked version. A public river boat is the cheaper version if you already know the pier.

Chinatown in the late afternoon is the walk, if the palace did not already fill the trip. Yaowarat rewards hunger more than a checklist.

The six-hour city loop

There is a transit-style day that uses the BTS, a river boat, the MRT, and a tuk-tuk, with time at ICONSIAM, Khao San, and Chinatown. It is about six hours. Check where it starts. If it starts in the city, you still have to get there from Suvarnabhumi.

It replaces the palace and the cruise. It does not sit on top of them.

Departure

Leave earlier than the map suggests. The rail link is immune to road traffic and it has a last train. A taxi is not immune to anything.

A flight before about 08:00 belongs to an airport hotel, not to a riverside room and a hope.
