Doha activities that fit a layover
The best hours in Doha are not all bookable, and that is fine. Book the desert or a museum ticket with a timed entry. Wander the souq on your own if you would rather.
Any length of layover
Souq Waqif
A food walk is worth paying for if you want someone else to choose. The souq itself does not require a tour.
Evenings are when it feels like a place rather than a set of shops.
Day two
National Museum of Qatar
The right second museum. Do not try to add it to a desert on the same day unless you enjoy looking at clocks.
It sits on the Corniche, so a hotel near the souq still works.
48 or 72 hours
Desert or a dhow
Pick one. A dhow at dusk is short and fits a city day. A desert is the day.
If you book a dhow, search that instead and read the return time. The same rule applies: know when you are back on land.
