48 hours in Kuala Lumpur from KUL
Forty-eight hours is the first gap that can hold the caves without lying about the airport. One day in the centre, one morning at Batu Caves, and a train you already trust.
Day one, KLCC
Ekspres in, hotel at KL Sentral or KLCC, Petronas at the time on the ticket. The park at the base is the rest of the afternoon if the deck was enough.
Eat in the neighbourhood. Bukit Bintang is a short onward hop, not a second city.
Day two, the caves
Batu Caves is 272 steps, a dress code, and monkeys that are not a petting zoo. The half-day tour is about three and a half hours from the city, with a batik stop. Add the ride from your hotel and the ride back toward KLIA before you call it a morning.
Shoulders and knees covered. Shoes come off in the temple. Hold your bag.
The airport tour instead
If you would rather not change hotels and trains, the KLIA transit tour picks you up and drops you back, in about seven hours. Book it at least 48 hours ahead. It shows you the caves and the towers from the outside. It does not hand you a Petronas ticket.
Choose that or the two-day split. Not both.
Departure
Sentral to the airport is the easy part. The hard part is leaving the hotel early enough to make Sentral. Three hours at KLIA after you arrive there.
