72 hours in Kuala Lumpur from KUL

Seventy-two hours is enough to stop rushing and still not enough for a hill station. Stay in the capital. The distance from the airport has already spent the spare hour.

The shape

Day one: KLCC and the timed towers, hotel at Sentral or KLCC.

Day two: Batu Caves in the morning, then Chinatown or the colonial centre if you still want to walk.

Day three: KL Tower at dusk, or nothing booked, then the Ekspres. If the flight is early, swap day three with an airport hotel the night before.

One full-day tour, if you want it handled

The airport pickup tour can be day two, booked 48 hours ahead, with the towers ticket kept for a different day because it is not included.

Seven hours in a van is the activity. Do not schedule a deck slot after it.

What stays off the list

Melaka is a real trip and a bad layover add. Genting is a casino mountain. The fireflies are an evening far from the return train.

You came through KLIA. See Kuala Lumpur.

Rain

Storms are ordinary. The towers and the tower are indoors once you are up. The caves are not. A wet staircase is a reason to switch the days, not a reason to hurry.
