The train is so short that a city hotel is usually right. The exception is a departure before about 08:00.
Dawn flights, and arrivals so late the centre would be a dark square and a closed kitchen.
You can still ride in for the afternoon. The room is the buffer. The visitor centre is in the public hall if you want an hour that is not the city, and it still means you have entered.
The layover base. You walk to the S-Bahn that goes to the aircraft, and the old town is a further walk or one stop when you have the energy.
Station hotels are chosen for the platform, not for the charm. Ask for a quiet room.
The right upgrade on 48 or 72 hours. Check the walk to a city-tunnel S-Bahn stop before you book. Fifteen minutes is a pleasure. Thirty with a suitcase is the airport hotel you should have chosen.
